April 24, 2025 – Introducing Ignite AI Lab Director, Dr. Philip Reiner.

Dr. Philip Reiner joins the Ignite team through the recent acquisition of Reliant Technologies.

Dr. Reiner serves as the AMCOM Task Lead at Ignite and Chief Software Architect for the Army Development Command (DEVCOM) Aviation and Missile Center’s Logistics Engineering Laboratory (LogLab). In this role, he leads advanced research and development efforts that integrate machine learning, data science, and digital transformation technologies into Army logistics systems. He oversees the development of key tools such as the Logistics Simulation (LogSIM) and the Logistics Systems Integration Lab (LogSIL), which streamline operations and enhance mission readiness. Dr. Reiner also founded and directs the Ignite Engineering Laboratory, an innovation hub focused on creating software prototypes that optimize workflows and improve operational efficiency.

Prior to joining Ignite, Dr. Reiner supported Department of Defense initiatives as a Senior Data Scientist and Research Fellow at SAIC, where he led projects involving machine learning, big data analytics, and simulation for the Missile Defense Agency and the Air Force. His early career included research roles at Auburn University, where he worked on neural networks and AI-driven solutions for image processing and predictive logistics analytics. Dr. Reiner earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Auburn University and has published extensively in the areas of machine learning and computational intelligence. He has been recognized with several awards for his work, including being named an SAIC Research Fellow for his groundbreaking contributions to deep learning. He lives in Madison, Alabama, with his wife, Heather, and their two children.
