Ignite recognizes the benefits and the importance associated with ensuring that our services and products comply with Section 508 requirements. We follow DoD’s Section 508 best practices and guidance as well as industry usability best practices when developing products and services such as web site design, presentations, training, and documentation. We ensure that consideration of Section 508 requirements is given at the initial phase of each project. We understand both the technical and functional standards for Section 508, and we have insight on how to follow the spirit of the law.

Ignite’s Human-Centered Design UI/UX approach inherently addresses Section 508 and will test for Section 508 compliance using DoD-approved tools and methods to ensure that our solutions are compliant with the Revised 508 Standards and the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). We will certify that the platform and applications meet the requirements of Section 508 for the first major release of the platform and the applications. We will re-certify at each subsequent major release on all DoD designated end user devices, browsers, and mobile platforms. We will track and remediate 508 issues found during testing using our DevSecOps methodology to avoid any time-consuming 508 findings that have the potential to delay a release using other approaches.

Ignite’s approach to Section 508 compliance is integrated into the entire lifecycle from the design of the UX through testing and go live. Using this integrated approach, issues will be identified early, so that they can be corrected more effectively and efficiently than a process that waits until the end of the development cycle to validate Section 508 compliance.
